WotC unveils 'Double Masters' for August release WOTC

Wizards of the Coast is bringing back its "Masters" line with Double Masters, coming out for Magic: The Gathering this August.

The 332-card set is scheduled for release Aug. 7 (Aug. 6 on Magic Online) will be sold in 15-card booster packs with each booster pack containing not one, but two rares.  Furthermore, WotC confirms that the packs' foil slot can consist of up to two additional rares for a possible total of four rares in a single pack.

Booster boxes will contain 24 packs along with two non-foil borderless showcase box topper cards that will be included in each booster box.  These box toppers which are being pulled from a pool of 40 "fan-favorite" cards and are receiving full-art treatments.

The company will also be doing away with Collector's Boosters this time around.  Instead, WotC says Double Masters will have what they're calling VIP Edition.  This VIP Edition sub-product is planned to be unique to Double Masters.  WotC says they'll be releasing more information on them in the near future.

And not to burst anybody's bubble, but WotC has also confirmed that the fetchland reprints they've promised for 2020 will not be in Double Masters.

"Now, to quell one rumor before it begins, there are no fetch land reprints in this set," says the company in the product's announcement.  "We know we told you there was another printing of fetch lands coming this year, and we promise there is, but Double Masters is not that reprint."

The company did, however, show of another of the set's mythic rares along with its full art variant.
