Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Wizards of the Coast is extending its prohibition of in-store play of Magic: The Gathering.
The announcement comes as many stores and players hoped the company would allow official play of its games at venues nationwide. The suspension affects both the USA and Latin America.
"We can confirm that the suspension will be lifted no sooner than Commander Legends prerelease—the season will offer At-Home Prerelease only," says the company. "Remote play events remain available in Wizards Event Reporter and EventLink, but any live events scheduled will be automatically cancelled and removed from the Store and Event Locator."
Wizards of the Coast says they will continue to monitor the situation. The company expects to make an update Oct. 14.
