Magic: The Gathering’s next set, Throne of Eldraine, isn’t event out yet (that happens Oct. 4) and Magic players already have four more new sets to look forward to.

Just announced by Wizards of the Coast are 2020’s new Standard-legal sets:

  • Theros Beyond DeathMagic ventures back to the plane of Theros with a heavy focus on the underworld. Perhaps this is where players will find the slain planeswalker Elspeth?
  • Ikoria: Lair of the Behemoths – Taking place in a brand-new plane, Ikoria is being described as “Monster World.” It’s a place where players get to not only play with monsters, but also make their own.  Maybe we’ll see the augment mechanic from Unstable (or, at least, a variant thereof)?
  • Core 2021 – The game’s next annual Core Set is apparently featured around the popular and powerful old-school planeswalker Teferi.
  • Zendikar Rising – The final Magic: The Gathering Standard-legal release of 2020, Zendikar Rising brings players back to the popular plane of Zendikar for a third visit. It’s being billed as being much closer in likeness to the original “Adventure World” look and feel of the original Zendikar  Eldrazi not included.

You can find out all of the details that Mark Rosewater and friends are willing and able to disseminate at this time in the YouTube video below (fast forward to the 12:56 mark).
