A new challenger approaches!

Wizards of the Coast has revealed Secret Lair x Street Fighter, a Magic: The Gathering/Street Fighter crossover that (in part) celebrates 35 years of Capcom's flagship arcade fighting game.

With reservations beginning Feb. 18 on the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair web page, this new Secret Lair drop falls under the storied collectible card game's controversial Universes Beyond sub-brand with which WotC introduces off-brand IPs into Magic.  Future Universes Beyond inclusions will include Games Workshops' science fiction IP, Warhammer 40,000, and Epic Games' meme-worthy shooter game, Fortnite.

These new Street Fighter cards feature Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Blanka, Dhalsim, Zangief, E. Honda, Guile, and one more card that Capcom will reveal over the weekend.  They will be black bordered and fully unique, meaning that they are not re-skinned/renamed versions of already existing cards.  Wizards of the Coast has promised, however, that these functionally unique cards could show up in set boosters for future Magic sets as part of "The List" -- a rotating list of cards from throughout Magic history that appear in low frequencies as a bonus card of sorts within set boosters.

Secret Lair x Street Fighter was initially announced last summer, but details at the time were sparse.

Other new Secret Lairs announced

Wizards of the Coast also announced a handful of other Secret Lairs that are releasing alongside Secret Lair x Street Fighter.
