Magic: The Gathering continues to go full animal with Bloomborrow as more planeswalkers are envisioned as animals.
For the plane of Bloomborrow, Wizards of the Coast has decided to have the plane be like no other, with any one entering being transformed into one of the animals inhabiting the plane. For months we only know of two. One was Ral Zarek in otter form, which is a key part to the Bloomburrow story. It's also the only transformed planeswalker not part of the "Courageous Critters" line, which is a subset of planeswalker reprints that have been anthropomorphized for the set.
Then there was fox Jace Beleren. While his card IS part of "Courageous Critters," it is also confirmed to be canon through the story - at least to some extent
But recently more cards have been revealed. Many of the Courageous Critters cards are not planeswalkers, and are instead beloved cards of the past. And that includes ones that were already a bit on the furry side of the spectrum such as Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni going from a Kamigawa rat to Bloomburrow rat:
As well as Derevi, Empyrial Tactician going from an aven of Alara to a full Bluumburrow owl:
However, as promised, more planeswalkers have been revealed over time. And that includes a large bunch more recently.
So, here are the rest of the known ones right now. The first is Narset, Parser of Veils. As she is from a different plane, her Bloomborrow formrepresents the plane with a Red Wattle Blackwing:
As squirrels are the Necromancers in Bloomborrow, Liliana of the Dark Realms has become one of the most evil squirrels you will ever see:
Nissa, Who Shakes The World goes full frog:
Teferi, Time Reveler goes on his heritage and becomes a Secretary-like bird:
And finally Tamiyo, Field Researcher becomes a rabbit. For this one, many speculators have said that maybe the card is canon, and that instead of dying, she found peace there instead after, well, everything that has happened to her.
Currently seven others have yet to be revealed, included three from the Commander decks (Tamiyo is in the Peace Offering deck). Like everything else Magic, there is much speculation over who the remaining ones are.
At least three will be planeswalkers. Speculation amongst fans have gone in every sort of direction, especially since Bloomborrow is proving more popular than WotC had envisioned, with pre-orders being at such high numbers there are already weeks of shipping delays. The most popular is Tomik Vrona becoming an otter like Ral. But, again, speculation.
Bloomburrow has only a couple of weeks to go before release, so those cards will be revealed very soon.
