Pack Crackin': Gatecrash Dimir Prerelease Kit

Magic Untapped cracks open a Dirmir guild prerelease kit from Gatecrash.

In 2013, the second set in Magic: The Gathering's Return to Ravnica block, Gatecrash, was released.  With it came the re-introduction of five the plane's ten guilds: Orzhov, Dimir, Gruul, Boros, and Simic.

Each guild received its own prerelease kit which contains five booster packs of Gatecrash along with a few extra goodies.  These goodies include a guild-specific decal, a spindown 20-sided die that features the Gatecrash set symbol as the number "20," and a special seeded pack that includes that guild's specific alternate-art prerelease card and other guild-specific cards.

For this episode of Pack Crackin', we're opening a Dimir kit.  For the Dimir, the prerelease card is Consuming Aberration (which is worth a modest $2.30).

As might be expected, Dissension's three shock lands are worth a decent sum.  In fact, they make up five of the most seven most valuable cards in the set.

And, on the topic of Gatecrash's most valuable cards, Aurelia, the Warleader tops the list at $30.53 with Breeding Pool not too far behind at $25.63 and Lord of the Void at $25.09.  After that, it's the rest of the set's shocklands: Sacred Foundry ($21.88), Watery Grave ($16.19), Godless Shrine ($14.18), and Stomping Ground ($11.39).

Magic Untapped picked up this prerelease kit from Big Brother Comics in Sacramento, Calif., for $24.99.
