Chris Cocks, CEO of Hasbro, has assumed direct control of Wizards of the Coast following the departure of WotC's former president, John Hight.
Hight stepped down Sept. 1 to take an advisory role with Wizards, which makes Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and other properties for Hasbro, for the next year.
A Hasbro representitive confirmed Cocks' newfound direct control of Wizards of the Coast to Polygon, which first reported on the story.
“On an interim basis, the Wizards leadership team will report directly to CEO Chris Cocks,” the representative told them. “We’re committed to a thorough search process and will provide updates as we have them."
Hight’s pending departure was first announced via a filing on July 27 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Running Wizards of the Coast is not new to Cocks. He served as president for them from 2016 through 2022 before taking over as CEO of Hasbro.
