The first Magic: The Gathering release of 2025 is about to come out. There are a few things players should know about it first.
As its name implies, Innistrad Remastered, which releases on Friday, Jan. 24, brings Magic players back to the plane of Innistrad akin to the previous two remastered sets released by Wizards of the Coast, Time Spiral Remastered, Dominaria Remastered, and Ravnica Remastered. And, like those three other sets, Innistrad Remastered will be full of nothing but reprints from sets that took place on its namesake plane such as Innistrad, Eldritch Moon, and Innistrad: Midnight Hunt.
Unlike those three other remastered sets, however, there will be cards in Innistrad Remastered that have nothing to do with the plane of Innistrad at all such as Hermit Druid, a card from the set Stronghold that took place on the artificial plane of Rath. For these non-Innistrad cards, Wizards of the Coast have given them a treatment that's reminiscent of a "B" horror movie.
As for the Innistrad-native cards that players can expect, there's a very good assortment of them including Emrakul, the Promised End, Liliana of the Veil, Snapcaster Mage, and more.
These cards will be printed not only in the normal current card frame, but also in the retro frame in celebration of Magic's past as well as the aforementioned horror movie poster treatment.
The set will also have serialized cards. Well, more specifically, there will be one card available as a serialized card: the movie poster version of Edgar Markov. The card, which will be a foil, will be numbered to 500 and can only be found in Collector Booster packs.
There will also be a handful of cards printed in the borderless treatment as well as the set-specific showcase styles found in Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow.
Innistrad Remastered will be sold in Play Booster packs ($6.99 MSRP) and Collector Booster packs ($29.99 MSRP).
Every 14-card Play Booster will feature a retro frame card (along with the possibility of opening a double-faced retro frame card), a traditional foil card, and might also contain an art card. The 15-card Collector Boosters will contain 10 to 11 foil cards (including four cards of rare or higher rarity, 3-6 uncommons, 4-7 commons, and a land card) and are also where players will be able to find the movie poster treatment cards. Foil retro frame cards are also a Collector Booster exclusive.
As for promotional cards, those who partake in the Innistrad Remastered launch party (Jan. 24-26) at Wizards Play Network local game stores will be given a foil retro frame Deadeye Navigator card.
Innistrad Remastered is also being released on Magic: The Gathering Online. The set will not be released onto Magic: The Gathering - Arena.
