What's new for MagiKids in 2026?
For several years, MagiKids, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity and an official charity partner of Wizards of the Coast, creates Magic kits for schools and libraries across the United States and helps teach first timers how to play has been a mainstay at conventions from Las Vegas to Atlanta to Chicago. And the Las Vegas 2026 MagicCon kept up that strong showing.
Magic Untapped has previously shown what is new with MagiKids at the 2024 and 2025 conventions. So....what is new in 2026?
Well, for one, MagiKids continues to grow exponentially.
"We have now donated to over 4,000 schools and libraries for Magic clubs," said MagiKids Founder and President Jason Egginton to Magic Untapped. "And we are seeing major growth areas in Minnesota, California, Washington, and even Alaska.
"And our list of partners keeps growing. We have Dragon Shield, TCGPlayer, Wizards, of course, and so many more."

Donations have also continued to climb, with overall charity growth continuing to go up year over year. In Las Vegas, donations were so high that the charity started having transportation issues.
"So the convention began on Friday morning, and by Sunday at 9 A.M. we already filled our van full of donated Magic cards and accessories," added Egginton. "One of our volunteers had to put dozens of boxes of cards in his hotel room for awhile because we got so many at once. So the van we need to drive back to Rochester, and we're looking how to fly the rest out."
While many of these came from straight bulk donations, many others came from players at the convention outright donating cards not wanted from recently opened packs. Some semi-official draft organizers at the Renaissance Hotel's "lobbycon" in Las Vegas even encouraged donations after events.

Teaching has also grown by leaps and bounds. The Jumpstart events hosted by the charity brought out over 200 families to play, with the learn to play tables seeing a constant stream of people wanting to know the game. And, once again, MagiKids had a prime location, being the only booth in the Bloomburrow-themed Family Magic area of the convention.
"MagiKids is the only place at the convention where they actually teach you how to play, which is really important. We get a lot of Magic players bringing their kids, or we have whole families coming out, and we play an incredibly important role. Wizards sees this. They really do."
This was only further seen by school groups leaving thank you notes at the MagiKids booth, something the charity didn't bring with them because of space issues, but nonetheless had them handed to them at the Convention, then lovingly displayed. Like this one from Albuquerque:

"The focus, as always, is on the kids," concluded Egginton. "We are thankful for all the volunteers. And of course we'll be back in 2027."
