A Look at What's on the Way for MTG from Ultra PRO

There's a lot of new Magic: The Gathering accessories on the way from Ultra Pro that MTG players may want to keep there eyes out for.

And those accessories go beyond just sleeves and your basic assortment of deck boxes.

In fact, the company is working on a handful of rather interesting-looking ones such as a deck box that looks like a mimic from Dungeons & Dragons.

"We've already done a figurine that looks like [the deck box] for D&D," says Dekan Wheeler, Senior Product Manager for Ultra PRO.  "We're learning from what we've done there and sizing it for a deck."

The prototype mimic deck box, though, isn't the one that Magic players might be clamoring over, though, as the company is also working on a deck box specifically for Commander players.

It's being designed to not only hold a deck with that deck's commander viewable in a window, but also as a multi-functional box based upon Japanese joinery with spaces for one's graveyard, command zone, deck, and so on.

"You understand how it works immediately once you use it," Wheeler comments.

Also new from Ultra PRO are dry erase MTG tokens.  They come 20 per pack and include two of each of MTG's five colors, including some for colorless cards and so on, as well as a black dry-erase marker with eraser.

The company also has a new dice storage plush shaped like the character Tiny Bones as well as reusable packs for Cube and Jumpstart that feature MTG Foundations artwork on them.  It's something that Ultra PRO hopes to do for each Magic set going forward.

"The idea is whenever future Jumpstart releases are happening, we're gonna do the same things," he says.

Ultra PRO has also come out with a special type of counter called the Multiring that have numbers on one side and status effects on the other.  While it's designed more for D&D players, Wheeler finds it's useful for MTG as well.

"[It's] a great little counter for anything," he explains.

A set of them come complete with a storage tube for easy transport.
