Wizards of the Coast has informed Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores of a crafty new in-store event themed around The Hobbit.
The event, called "An Unexpected Crafting Party," is scheduled to run from Aug. 14 through Sept. 24 and includes Hobbit-themed activities for those who attend.
"An Unexpected Crafting Party invites players into your store for something a little different: a casual, creative, in-store experience inspired by The Hobbit," Wizards tells its WPN partners. "Participants can enjoy Dwarven language puzzle worksheets, Smaug-themed coloring inserts sized perfectly for a toploader, The Hobbit-themed stickers, and collectible Treasure tokens."
WPN stores are being encouraged to provide additional crafting supplies such as paint, brushes, markers, glue, and so on to spark creativity and enhance the experience for players.
One thing of note is that Wizards is not requiring WPN stores to offer any sort of structured Magic: The Gathering play in coordination with this craft-themed event, though the company is recommending that stores have Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit Welcome Decks available for new players.
