A look at 2025's Magic: The Gathering release schedule

It's a new year, and that means new sets are coming out for Magic: The Gathering.

In fact, there are (as of this article's publication) seven non-Secret Lair releases on the schedule for the year.

Jan. 24: Innistrad Remastered

Releasing Friday, Jan. 25, is Innistrad Remastered, a curated amalgamation of all of the sets that have come out on the plane of Innistrad such as Liliana of the Veil and Emrakul, the Promised End along with a handful of cards (such as Hermit Druid) that are being reprinted with an Innistrad flair.

Innistrad Remastered will be available in Collector Boosters and Play Booster packs.

Feb. 14: Aetherdrift

Taking place on the planes of Mangara, Amonkhet, and Avishkar (formerly known as Kaladesh) is Aetherdrift, the "death race" themed plane.

Set for release on Valentines day, it's 2025's first Premier (Standard) set of the year and continues the Magic: The Gathering main storyline.

It will be available in Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, a Bundle, and a pair of Commander Decks.

Beyond that, there's not a ton of information available as of yet.  Here's what we know:

April 11: Tarkir: Dragonstorm

Magic: The Gathering is returning to the plane of Tarkir as it concludes its Dragonstorm story arc.  The set's prerelease is scheduled for April 4-10.

June 13: Magic: The Gathering - Final Fantasy

The hotly anticipated Universes Beyond set, Magic: The Gathering - Final Fantasy, the set will be focused on the sixteen core (that it, "numbered") Final Fantasy video games.

"Cast powerful spells, call upon classic summons, and even visit your favorite locations on the back of a chocobo, says the set's webpage.  "Countless elements from the games are here for you to weave together your own story!"

Aug. 1: Edge of Eternities

Magic: The Gathering will be traveling to the edge of the multiverse in this sci-fi/fantasy set with none other than the antagonist Tezzeret playing a big role in the story as the collectible card game kicks off its next story arc.

TBD latter half of 2025: Magic: The Gathering - Spider-man

Magic: The Gathering and Marvel Comics collide in this Universes Beyond set based around the Spider-Man intellectual property.

TBD late 2025: To-Be-Announced Universes Beyond set

In very late 2025, Magic players should expect yet another Universes Beyond set as Wizards of the Coast further dilutes their Magic: The Gathering collectible card game with another non-MTG entity.  What that is has yet to be discovered.
