Artist Aaron Miller has been making artwork for Magic: The Gathering for some time now.
Since making his debut for the collectible card game in Theros back in 2013, he has created artwork for more than 150 cards including the likes of Darkslick Shores, Kenrith, the Returned King, and the judge promo version of Enlightened Tutor.
But even with such a large array of card art to chose from, the artist has some favorites.
One such favorite piece of card art for Miller is one of his more recent ones: Smuggler's Share from 2022's Streets of New Capenna's Commander decks.
"I really wanted to paint the raccoon folk," he explains. "It just was this perfect opportunity to take the assignment I had and then add the element that I wanted at the same time."

Another such card for Miller is the card Raiders' Karve, a vehicle card from 2021's Kaldheim.
To create the artwork for that card, the artist used something very close to his heart as inspiration.
"The model I used for the Viking ship was an antique that I got from my grandfather, says Miller.
Miller's grandfather was an antiques collector. He says it's one of the items that his grandfather brought with him when immigrating to America from Denmark.
"It's just something that I've always loved from bring a kid," he says.
A third piece of Magic: The Gathering art that stands out to Miller is the work he did for the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt card Rotten Reunion.
The inspiration for that card's art, he says, came from a trip he took with his wife in Iowa.
"I have my own reference of me and my wife standing in front of the [American Gothic] house wearing overalls and some silly costumes and stuff," he explains.
