Magic: The Gathering artist Steve Prescott talks about his the favorite card arts he's done for the game to date.
Despite Prescott's years-long tenure making art for the collectible card game, two of his most favorite works are from amongst his more recent creations with the first of which being his work for the borderless version of Seasoned Pyromancer.
"It's one of my flashier pieces," says Prescott. "The reason I like it is because a lot of it came together really easily. It was one of the smoothest paintings I've ever done for Magic."
Another more recent work that comes to mind for the artist is the painting he did for the Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms card Ellywick Tumblestrum. It's a card that is chock-full of whimsy.

"It's a lot of wild, organic shapes. A lot of natural color schemes and just, like, anything goes in it," Prescott comments.
A third piece that strikes the artist as a personal favorite is his work for the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty card Reckoner Bankbuster. And, while he admits it's not one of his best pieces, it's one that reminds him of just how cool his job really is.
"While I was painting that...I suddenly realized what I was painting and what I was getting paid to paint like how I make a living and pay bills and support my kid" he says. "I'm painting cyberpunk rats riding a speed skating mech through a cyberpunk city."
He continues, "That kind of exemplified the sheer fun [and] wackiness that I get to do and make a living at."
