Magic Untapped, along with special guest Dork4Short, opens up a booster pack of Invasion from the year 2000.
Released 25 years ago, Invasion was a critical set in Magic's evolution. In fact, MTG Head Designer, Mark Rosewater, has called the set the beginning of the “Third Age of Magic Design” in that it kicked off the notion that sets and blocks should be designed around a specific theme rather than a collection of mechanics. It's also the first set in Magic to have a deliberate multicolor theme to its design.
Partially due to the set's age, there are a handful of cards worth a few bucks that can be found in the set.
As of script writing, the top five cards that can be found in the set are:
- Phyrexian Altar ($70.77 normal, $292.55 foil);
- Aura Shards ($20.56 normal, $94.32 foil);
- Captain Sisay ($14.46 normal, $129.99 foil);
- Mages' Contest ($13.78 normal, $102.07 foil), and;
- Vile Consumption ($12.29 normal, $67.53 foil)
Now, with the help of special guest Dork4Short, let's crack this booster pack open and see what's inside!
