Magic 30 Celebration in Las Vegas Brings Fans Together for Play, Product Reveals, Panels, Surprises

Wizards of the Coast celebrated 30 years of its first nearly billion-dollar brand Magic: The Gathering over the past weekend at a sold-out festival in Las Vegas.

Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), a global play and entertainment company, celebrated 30 years of its first nearly billion-dollar brand Magic: The Gathering over the past weekend at a sold-out festival in Las Vegas.

Magic: The Gathering’s incredible history and 2023 surprises were showcased throughout the three-day event to deliver an epic experience for fans of all ages with product reveals, panels, parties, and organized play opportunities, as well as a few surprises for select fans, including receiving the first booster packs for the upcoming limited-edition, highly collectible Magic 30th Anniversary product that goes on sale on Nov. 28.

This event is the first in a series of Magic Cons that will highlight the rich history of the first tabletop card game and bring its multi-generational fanbase together to celebrate The Gathering in multiple cities throughout 2023. These events will offer opportunities for fans to be the first to get their hands on unique collectibles, participate in tournaments, meet their favorite creators, and celebrate Magic: The Gathering in new and exciting ways.

The Brothers War’ Debut Trailer

At Magic 30, Wizards debuted a brand-new cinematic trailer to kick off preorders for The Brothers’ War, a continuation of the dark and emotional Phyrexian War storyline. In The Brothers’ War, Phyrexians have taken root in Dominaria after a shocking sleeper agent was revealed. Now a weary hero must travel back in time to discover how to defeat Magic’s greatest villains. Fans can view the trailer on YouTube.

Magic World Championship XXVIII Winner Crowned

After two days of Arena play with a Dominaria United draft, and Standard and Explorer modes, the top four players advanced to the final rounds. On Sunday, Nathan Steuer staged an incredible comeback to defeat Eli Kassis and claim the top prize of $100,000 and trophy as the champion. It was his first world championship, but at 20 years old, it may not be his last.

New Magic Con 2023 Dates

At Magic 30, Wizards announced the first of four Magic Con 2023 events will take place in Philadelphia from Feb. 17-19.
