Further pushing the upcoming Magic: The Gathering | Marvel's Spider-Man Universes Beyond set, Wizards of the Coast has announced a new Commander event focused around the third-party I.P.
Being branded as "Magic Presents: A Villainous Halloween," it's a special casual-level Commander event that local game stores can run anytime between Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. In the event, players bring their own Commander decks to play, but there's a twise. At the start of each game, players will secretly choose a villain card. Each villain card represents a classic villain from Magic’s history and has its own alternate win condition.
"As the game unfolds, players can work toward their secret objective," specifies WotC. "Once a player meets the condition on their chosen villain card, they reveal it—and from that point on, each opponent loses the game at the end of their own turn, unless they can stop the villain in time."
For participating in the event, players will be able to take home pa pack of "event materials" (it has not yet been revealed what that will be).
"Each pack supports four players, but the expectation is that each participant will receive their own pack to bring the fun home," says WotC.
Prize support will be available as supplies last.
